TDK-Lambda UK recharges the scene with a solar power ‘supply’ boost!

Read the case study

TDK Lambda boost their eco credentials with not one, but two solar power installations!

TDK Corporation are a global leader in power supply, recognised around the world for technology, efficiency, and reliability.  As a group company, TDK-Lambda UK are Britain’s largest designer and manufacturer of both standard and configurable power supplies.

As with many businesses around the world, TDK-Lambda UK had the ambition to reduce their dependency on the national grid for its electricity supply by investing into their own solar power generation.  Through our partnership, we helped them achieve significant financial savings on their energy bills by offsetting their electricity usage with a specifically sized solar PV installation on their rooftop to ensure that every watt of solar power generated by the system is consumed to power TKD-Lambda’s manufacturing operations.

Technology

To generate solar power for TDK-Lambda’s Ilfracombe facility, we supplied a 91.20kW module-level optimised system using inverters from SolarEdge for phase 1, and then later in March 2020, we added a further 100.75kW of solar PV system using the same technology to achieve a total system size of 191.95kW. Using monitoring technology from SolarEdge, both TDK-Lambda UK and Harvest Green Developments can remotely see and manage how much solar power is generated from the system.

“Harvest Green Developments have installed a 91.20kW PV system at TDK Lambda UK Ltd. This is at our manufacturing and EMEA headquarters in Ilfracombe, Devon.  The installation was completed in a professional manner and with full compliance with our H&S requirements.  The team were helpful, knowledgeable and sympathetic to our needs as a customer.  The system is running well and offsetting our grid electrical usage as we had hoped. At TDK we continue to strive for sustainability in every aspect of the environmental spectrum.  Maintaining and exceeding the requirements of our ISO 14001 accreditation.  We would certainly recommend Sam and his team and will be looking to work with Harvest Green developments on further projects to improve our sustainability”.
