In February 2024, Harvest Green Developments commissioned another rooftop solar PV installation for Christeyn’s at their facility in Bradford to reduce their exposure to high electricity costs. This is the third installation in our continued partnership together to deploy renewable energy technologies across their facilities.
Their goal is to provide maximum savings, to become self-sufficient for energy demands, and to achieve their sustainability targets. At its peak, the 59.77kW solar array is capable of generating 51,470kWh per year of clean electricity, which is then used to power machinery within the facility and will drastically reduce the amount of electricity that Christeyns needs to buy from the grid by an impressive 22%.
Christeyns would have deployed more renewable energy generating equipment on site, but the roof condition of other buildings on site were of limited viability. With a few roof repairs, these will present an opportunity to deploy more solar panels in the future.
Christeyns has been at the forefront of global hygiene solutions since its inception in 1946. Drawing on their expertise and passion, this Ghent-born enterprise has grown into a market leader for dazzling detergent products, breakthrough innovation, and sustainable practices designed to create strong partnerships worldwide.
Technology
For this rooftop solar PV system, we used Tier 1 solar panels supplied by Trina Solar, each capable of generating 430W, state-of-the-art module-level optimisation technology provided by SolarEdge inverters, and high-quality mounting kit from K2 Systems.
Install Type
The total size of this renewable energy solution is 59.77kW and is fully optimised with SolarEdge’s DC/DC Power Optimisers, which are electrically connected to the solar panels to monitor the generation performance of that individual module. Through SolarEdge’s remote monitoring platform, it is possible to see and track the energy performance of each solar panel on a daily basis. As Christeyns chosen Operation and Maintenance provider, we use this valuable information to ensure any faults are identified and solved quickly to minimise any loss in energy production.
