In 2019, Harvest Green Developments supported Cannock Building Services in delivering a modest 14.30kW solar PV installation for a new hotel in Cambridge, which we designed to meet the environmental obligations required for the construction under Building Regulations UK Part L. The simplest and most cost-effective method of achieving this goal was to install solar panels to the available roof space of the hotel, which we supported from initial design stage right through to the commissioning of the inverters. Not only does this mean that the building meets the appropriate standards for construction, but it also gives Holiday Inn Express the benefit of using the clean electricity generated by the solar array.
Holiday Inn Express, part of IGH Hotels & Resorts, is a popular chain of hotels with over 3,000 locations, and as such, they understand the growing importance of reducing their carbon footprint with each new hotel that is constructed. Through their site at Cambridge, we have proven that solar energy for hotels is not only achievable, but it is also affordable and hugely beneficial in giving a greener image.
Technology
The solar energy is generated from Tier 1 solar panels provided by Canadian Solar and uses a string inverter supplied by Solis. The solar array is safely fixed to the hotel’s rooftop using high-quality mounting kit designed and supplied by K2 Systems.
