Exciting news is on the horizon as Harvest Green Developments prepares to kick off the construction of a new solar PV installation at FW Mansfield & Son, marking our second renewable energy project at their Nickle Farm located in Canterbury. A renowned fruit grower, picker, and supplier of various fruits, FW Mansfield and Son has already taken significant steps towards sustainability with their previous investments into solar energy totalling an impressive 2.26MW, including an earlier installation of 298kW completed by Harvest Green Developments in November 2022. This latest project aims to further their commitment to renewable energy by adding another 241.92kW solar PV installation.
The upcoming solar array will utilise 576 Tier 1 solar panels supplied by Trina Solar, known within the solar industry for their efficiency and reliability. These modules will be powered by Solis inverters to retain the consistency of previous installations, to ensure optimal energy conversion and performance. To maximise available roof space across the latest packhouse, we will deploy the high-quality trapezoidal mounting system from Rubicon UK, which reflects our commitment to not only delivering renewable technologies that are highly efficient but also innovative.
Construction is scheduled to commence in April 2023 with completion expected to finalise in a few weeks later in May 2023, which highlights our dedication to deliver quickly without compromising our high-quality installation service. With the new solar PV installation projected to generate a further 226.44kW of clean electricity for the site, it will mean an additional reduction of 88,764 tonnes of carbon emissions, an achievement that is equivalent to planning approximately two million new trees. This latest investment will boost FW Mansfield and Son’s total solar capacity to an impressive 2.5MW, reinforcing their status as leaders in agricultural sustainability.
FW Mansfield and Son’s dedication to sustainability goes far beyond the numerous solar arrays across their rooftops; they have been awarded industry recognition for their inspiring initiatives by recently winning the Cold Chain Sustainability Award for The Small Cold Store of the Year 2023 for their sustainable construction of a new 25,000m3 cold store. These accolades underscore their active engagement in their goal to reduce their environmental footprint whilst maintaining high standards in their operations.
We are thrilled to partner with FW Mansfield and Son on this impactful endeavour, which exemplifies the synergy between agriculture and renewable energy. As we continue to work together, we look forward to advancing our collective mission towards a greener future by demonstrating the importance of investments into renewable technologies.
